Mr & Mrs Howes' Whimsical Wedding at Blackwell Grange, The Cotswolds.

Leigh & Daz become Mr & Mrs Howes

Date of Wedding: 02.08.19

Wedding Venue: Blackwell Grange

The proposal: We’d met at night school at the tender age of 15 & 16, we’d already been together for 9 years he’d finally decided he’d better pop the question so he’d made a film of all the places we’d been so where we met (high school) our first date (Odeon cinema) and had drop cards finally the last card read “will you marry me” he was then knelt behind me on one knee because bless him he’d played this proposal video at the cinema in front of everyone it was so very sweet.

Our vision for the wedding:

untitled-377.jpg

Why did you choose your venue?

We choose Blackwell as we felt it had everything rolled into one.

And what did you love about the look/feel of it?

We loved the surroundings- I mean the Cotswolds are beautiful but to be surrounded by it and feel you’re in a bubble with those you love most is so precious, I also loved the fact it had a seating area at the top exclusive to steal a few moments to let it all sink in while relaxing on the couches.

What was the theme/look of your day?

Whimsical so lots of candle light heaps of greenery truly brining the outdoors inside. We chose this as it seems timeless I really didn’t want to look back in years to come and regret our colour choice.

What decorations did you have?

We hardly had and decorations we just kept it floral mainly foliage to really drum in that garden inside feeling.

What colours did you choose, and why?

We chose whites and greens for flowers this was again to keep the wedding clean and timeless looking, the bridesmaids were in a mauve colour, and the grooms men were in navy it sounds quite a lot of colour but it all tied in beautifully.

What was the atmosphere you were hoping to create?

Fun free and laidback, we wanted the day to flow naturally.

Our Style:

untitled-213.jpg

Tell us about your outfits – Who is the designer? Where is it from? Why do you love it? How did you find it? Describe it.

My dress was Enzoni; I brought it from a local bridal boutique it’s situated in quaint little village. Daz wore a designer named Master Debonair who’s based in Newcastle and London so quite a travel but we feel totally worth it.

What jewellery/accessories and shoes did you wear? Who designed them?

I didn’t wear any jewellery, my hair piece was borrowed from my sister from her wedding and my shoes were Manolo Blahnik in yes you guessed it - royal blue.

What did the bridesmaids/groomsmen wear, and did they have any accessories?

The bridesmaids wore misguided and the groomsmen were in Master Debonair.

Our Favourite Moment

What was your favourite moment of the day?

100% having my beautiful son walk me down the aisle he was petrified bless him but he made me so very proud.

Were there any stand out moments or comedy errors that happened throughout the day?

The standout has to be the magician; he really took everyone by surprise as we hadn’t told anyone we’d hired one, so he was a welcome guest.

Were there any little surprises on the day?

Just how surreal it all feels you feel like you’re floating on air and you’re about to wake up at any moment.

Our Advice:

untitled-190.jpg

What advice/tips would you give to other couples getting married and still planning their big day?

Hire a videographer if your budget allows! They’re worth their weight in gold I can’t wait to have the full video back. I know he’d of caught moments we would have otherwise missed.

Do you have any wedding regrets or would you have done anything differently?

Oh wow erm no I can safely say it went perfectly.

Mr & Mrs Swingler get married at Hogarths, Solihul

It was my pleasure to work alongside the very lovely and talented videographer, Through the Lens with Marvin Marius again at the beginning of August to capture this wonderful wedding! Natasha and Jobe tied the knot at the gorgeous church in Solihul town centre, St Alphege followed by celebrations at Hogarths Hotel. With fantastic company and pretty surroundings, their day was full of fun and laughter throughout and it was such a delight to be there throughout it all.

Jobe & Natasha also left a fantastic review for Marvin and I:

***** ‘Through the Lens with Marv and Scarlett were fantastic on our wedding day. Relaxed, professional, laid back, cool and fun. Our wedding was only a few days ago but we have already received some preview photos and an amazing highlight video. The quality of their work is outstanding. We were stuck in two minds on whether to have our wedding video’d, I now know it would of been a huge mistake, after seeing just the highlight video and preview photos. Can’t wait to see the full packages, and can’t recommend Through the Lens & Scarlett highly enough!! Thanks for capturing our perfect day so brilliantly.’ - Jobe & Natasha Swingler

Mr & Mrs Inman's Cotswold Wedding

I must start this blog post by mentioning how absolutely wonderful the Bride and Groom (Anna & Rich) are and have been throughout the whole process; from meeting them at their engagement shoot to sharing their incredibly beautiful wedding day, I feel like I have made great friends with such lovely people!

The whole day was simply perfect and relaxed from start to finish, with lots of smiles and stunning surroundings. Their choice of St Laurence Church Rowington for the ceremony was traditional and elegant and so was the reception which was held afterwards at Manor House Hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh. The Cotswold stone made for a brilliant backdrop for some intimate portraits of them together at the venue.

I was also lucky to meet some new and some familiar suppliers on the day. I was totally in awe by their florist, Little Garden Flowers, who created a work of art using homegrown, seasonal flowers and foliage to make a dazzling display of delicate, botanical decadence. The bouquet was a feature of the day and so was all of the little details that followed at the venue.

Overall it really was a spectacular day and I enjoyed every moment of it. The staff at Manor House Hotel were so hardworking and accommodating which made the day even more special and a joy for me to work alongside. It was a true pleasure to capture all of the emotions and love that was in the air and I cannot wait to see their wedding album soon!

Sarah & Chris's Engagement Shoot at Hampton Manor

This is one of my new absolute favourite venues located in Hampton in Arden, Solihul. I met the wonderful Sarah and Chris here for their wedding consultation and engagement photoshoot ahead of their winter wedding next year. Walking around the grounds, it felt like we went back in time to more of a Pride & Prejudice era - so romantic!

I Love The Way You Love Me!

Mr & Mrs Davis

Oldberrow House 08/06/19

An unforgettable day for the absolutely adorable, Enya & Phil who got hitched at a beautiful little medieval church in Tanworth In Arden with the festivities followed on at Oldberrow House in Henley in Arden. The whole day was full of laughter and love and I could not help but be absorbed by the sheer happiness and delight from the wonderful newly weds and all of their guests. My highlights of the day were watching the bride and groom hop and skip down the aisle to The Monkees - I’m a Believer and getting down on the dance floor to Boyzone - I Love The Way You Love me. I’d like to thank all of the family for making me feel so welcome on the day. It was also a great pleasure of mine to meet my new friend and future partner in crime, Mr Marvin Marius who created a beautiful wedding video for them via Through The Lens MM.

Mr & Mrs Birad - The Mill Barns

Such a stunning day from start to finish celebrating Emma & Bobby’s wedding day at The Mill Barns. The venue was dressed beautifully by their chosen suppliers, Jam Jar Weddings & Events and Fairleys Bespoke Floristry. It was lovely to see them both tie the knot in front of the floral halo in the gorgeous arched window hosting a stunning backdrop of greenery and sunlight pouring in. We managed to get lots of intimate couple portraits in the gardens which we really enjoyed capturing together. Thank you so much for choosing me to be your photographer, every moment was a dream to photograph!

Stephanie & Shane

Mr & Mrs Field celebrated in style with a traditional, fairytale wedding located in the Worcestershire countryside. The love from these two radiated throughout the day for everyone to see and it was such a romantic and relaxed atmosphere. Shane’s speech had me in tears it was so touching and heartfelt, it’s hard not to get swept away with all of the wonderful emotions sometimes.

Ashley & Dan

Here was another classic case of a couple telling me that they HATE having their photographs taken, and that they find it quite awkward and nerve racking. Now, just take a second to look at the images we managed to create. Stunning!

This style of photoshoot works so well to conquer that nervous disposition in front of the camera ahead of the real thing. An engagement photoshoot enables my couples to try out different poses to suit them and also to feel more comfortable and relaxed with both myself and my camera, because natural shots always turn out the best!

I really enjoyed getting to know Ashley and Dan as we strolled around the Blackstone Riverside Park together taking pictures and discussing how they met and finding out their exciting plans for their hen / stag do’s! They are my first Bridebook couple and they are having a winter wedding this year at The Mill Barns, one of my favourite venues. I can’t wait to see them again in November!

Bump to Baby Photoshoot with Louise & Scott

After shooting Louise & Scott’s amazing surprise wedding a few years ago, I was elated to hear the news of their pregnancy and I was honoured to be asked to photograph Louise with her bump and her baby. Here’s a few shots from the pregnancy shoot which will follow on soon with a baby shoot! Such a great idea for mummy’s to be! Doesn’t she look beautiful?

Celebrating the New Year with a Silver Award!

Out of thousands of participants for the Bridebook Wedding Awards 2019, Scarlett Shellis Photography won a Silver Bridebook Wedding Awards 2019 Badge of Excellence!

Thank you to everyone who voted for me by leaving such kind and meaningful reviews. I have recently signed up to this wedding planning site, so to have received this award in such a short timescale is very exciting!

I hope you are enjoying 2019 so far as much as I am. I’m always very appreciative of the endorsements I receive from my clients, family and friends. Even the little things, such as you reading my emails to see how I’m getting on means a lot to me, so thank you.

A Year to Remember!

2018 has been a life changing year for me, personally and professionally. I have found myself this year and I think that this reflects in my work. I’ve identified a style that suits me and how I love to capture photographs. After studying photography at university from the age of 19 and now teaching photography full time, i’ve developed a unique insight into the way that photography tells the story of our lives. I’ve realised how important it is (and how much trust my couples put into me) to be a wedding photographer and my strongest asset is to never break that trust. My ultimate goal is to produce imagery that embodies everything my couples have been dreaming of in the lead up to their very special day, by capturing photographs that allow them to relive the moments they have treasured.

I always love to hear and see the individuality and personality that comes through in each wedding I photograph which shows unique personalities and different styles. It’s been so touching being a part of each and every one’s big moment in their lives this year and I’ve taken a step back and been able to shed a tear with a few whilst I am honoured to witness such magical events unfold. It never becomes a routine for me at a wedding because I become fully immersed in that moment with my couples, which results in real emotion and life within my photographs. I never feel like this is a job or that I’m doing this to earn a living, it just feels like this is something I was destined to do. I get so much pleasure from handing over my work to my couples and knowing that they can reflect and relive their day inch by inch, photograph by photograph.

I’ve received some overwhelming feedback this year which continues to motivate and inspire me. It also makes me feel so proud of what I do and I’m so thankful to the couples who put their trust in me and chose me to be their photographer. It’s not an easy decision to make when choosing someone to capture your wedding day and I can’t explain how appreciative I am to be that person. Here are some snippets of the amazing reviews and recommendations I have been given this year that mean the world to me:

‘Our wedding day, at Grafton Manor, was captured in just the way we wished and reflected how both my husband and I were feeling at that moment… Scarlett really made us feel as though we were the most important newlyweds she had ever photographed. She blended in effortlessly with our guests and captured moments from the day that we would have otherwise missed.’

‘Scarlett is friendly, professional and very talented and we absolutely love our wedding photos! She went out of her way to make sure we got all of the photos we wanted, she worked well with our other suppliers and captured our day perfectly.’

‘She has a natural flair for making people feel relaxed when composing photographs and makes having your photograph taken fun! The results speak for themselves, I can highly recommend her.’

‘Without a doubt, Scarlett is an extremely talented photographer, who captured every aspect of our wedding day to perfection. Her unobtrusive and friendly approach meant that she seamlessly photographed each special moment of the day. Our wedding guests have commented on both the incredible photographs as well as Scarlett’s flexible and professional style.’

‘I would not hesitate to hire Scarlett for any photography needs in the future. Thank you for being part of our special day and giving us lots of very special photographs for us to remember and look back on our day in the future. Thank you!’

‘We booked Scarlett for our wedding on a recommendation and we couldn’t be happier! From the start she was amazing, our engagement shoot was so relaxed and on our wedding day she was brilliant. Our photos are so so gorgeous. Scarlett, you are so wonderful to be around and we 100% will recommend you to everyone!’

‘Scarlett is a fantastic wedding photographer who bring some a chic and classy yet distinctive style. She really takes her time to capture the perfect pictures of the bride groom and their most special day.’

‘Scarlett was extremely professional and efficient at a wedding I attended. She captured all the special moments with some very creative shots with some stunning back drops. She manages to capture the emotion in every photo she takes which allows us to look back on a special day!’

Thank you again to all of the incredible couples, families and suppliers I’ve worked with this year, it’s been a real privilege and honour. I am looking forward to another successful year immersed in even more beautiful moments in photographs! Here are some of my favourites from this year:

Brides of 2018

Here’s to all of the beautiful brides I have photographed in 2018. What a stunning collection of inspiring bridal couture worn by all of these gorgeous ladies throughout the year. It’s been absolutely incredible being a part of each and everyone one’s special day and I feel so lucky to have been invited to photograph them. Thank you all for a great year of weddings! See you on the other side. All my love and best wishes, Scarlett.

Future Mr & Mrs Birad!

I met this lovely couple for their engagement shoot and wedding consultation a few weeks ago in the cute little village of Wolverly. We walked along the canal footpath to get some nice photographs of them together amongst the gorgeous autumnal leaves. The heavens decided to open up on us and the rain came tumbling down (luckily they bought an umbrella with them, although I did not!)

Claire & Anthony

On Saturday 20th October 2018, Claire and Anthony became Mr & Mrs Lilly at the beautiful venue, Grafton Manor in Worcestershire. They walked up the aisle in the most charming little chapel adjacent to the Manor, I was privileged to be there and to be a part of the wonderfully intimate and special ceremony inside. The grounds were spectacular and it was a joy to photograph such a stunning couple in the beautiful, autumnal light outside. From beginning to end it was a heart felt and romantic day and I just didn’t want it to end!

Heather & Tom's Wedding Day!

From start to finish, I felt totally immersed in the celebration of love between Heather and Tom. It was lovely to be there to capture the girls getting ready in the morning and helping them with last minute bits and pieces. Then it was on to the beautiful church of St Chads in Birmingham City Centre (the very heart of my hometown!) I’d been past this church so many times before but I never knew just how picturesque it was inside, I was mesmerised by the ornate interior and the welcoming atmosphere that it offered. The ceremony was traditional and classy, with inspiring words spoken by the wonderful priest and stunning voices from the choir. We continued the celebrations back at Fairlawns Hotel which was also beautifully decorated by Heather herself! It was a great opportunity to get some lovely photographs of the newly weds and their family outside in the pretty courtyard area where the late summer sun was beating down on us.

Lucy & Hadleigh

Today I met up with Lucy & Hadleigh at their wedding venue in Enville for their consultation and pre wedding photoshoot. They bought their two beautiful daughters along with them to join in with the photographs in the woodland nearby. In between running around hunting for fairies in the trees, we managed to get some lovely photographs of them all together. I just love capturing these natural, special moments.
