If the thought of being in front of a camera on your wedding day makes you a little nervous — you’re not alone!
It’s one of the most common things I hear from couples, and honestly, I get it. As a recent bride myself, I’ve been on the other side of the lens, and I completely understand how vulnerable it can feel.
That’s exactly why I wanted to share some practical tips to help you feel completely relaxed and confident on your wedding day. After all, the best photos happen when you’re genuinely comfortable, connected, and simply enjoying the moment.

1. Fall in Love With Your Photographer (Not Literally!)
The number one thing that makes the biggest difference? Find a photographer you really connect with. Someone whose work you love and whose personality puts you at ease.
Don't just scroll their Instagram and call it a day — check out their website, read testimonials, and ask to see full wedding galleries (not just the highlights). Even better, arrange a video call so you can chat face to face. You’ll get a much better sense of whether they’re the right fit for you.
Your photographer is going to be with you for some of the most intimate moments of the day, so it’s so important that you trust them and feel totally comfortable in their presence.

2. Book a Pre-Wedding Shoot
This is such a game-changer — and something I always recommend to my couples. A pre-wedding (or engagement) shoot gives you the chance to get used to being in front of the camera, without the pressure of the big day.
It’s also a lovely opportunity to get to know your photographer better and understand how they work. You'll feel so much more relaxed on the wedding day because you've already done it once, and you know exactly what to expect.
Plus, it’s a fun experience in its own right — many couples even say it feels like a little date!

3. Embrace the Moment and Be Yourselves
This is the one day where you get to just be completely in love and unapologetically yourselves. Don’t worry about what you think you should look like — just focus on how you feel.
Relax your body, breathe deeply, and interact with each other the way you normally would. Whether it’s holding hands, playing with each other’s hair, cuddling in close, or having a giggle — these are the moments that make the most beautiful, natural photos.
Trust your photographer to guide you and bring out the best in you. We’re not just there to take pictures — we’re there to make you look and feel amazing.

4. Enjoy the Quiet Moment, Just the Two of You
Lastly — and this is especially true on your wedding day — treat your couple portraits as a beautiful little escape. Among the busyness and emotion of the day, it’s likely the only time you’ll get to step away from the crowds and just be together.
Take that opportunity to walk around the venue you both fell in love with, breathe in the fresh air, and soak it all in. It’s a moment of calm, intimacy, and joy — and it’s where some of the most meaningful photos are captured.

Still feeling nervous? That’s completely normal. But with the right photographer by your side, a bit of prep, and a whole lot of love between you, you’ll be glowing in front of the lens in no time.
