A beautifully personal setting at The Porch House, Stow in the Wold
Some weddings are all about big celebrations, and others are beautifully simple, focused entirely on close family, connection, and the moments that really matter. This wedding at The Porch House in Stow-on-the-Wold was exactly that.
The day began with a ceremony at Cheltenham Registry Office, followed by a relaxed celebration at The Porch House — a historic Cotswolds pub full of character, warmth, and atmosphere.
The couple chose to keep things very intimate, inviting only their closest family and friends. After the ceremony, everyone made their way to Stow-on-the-Wold for a private dinner in a cosy function room at The Porch House.
The function room had been thoughtfully styled by Hannah, who had decorated the space herself with wildflowers, soft candlelight, and simple romantic touches that completely transformed the room.
It was a perfect reflection of the kind of wedding they wanted — understated, meaningful, and focused on atmosphere rather than formality.
The building itself carries so much history and character, and the soft lighting and candle glow added to that feeling even more as everyone gathered together for dinner.
A relaxed, candid approach to photography
This was a very short coverage wedding, with just two hours of coverage with the focus on capturing natural, unposed moments as they unfolded.
The couple were both quite camera shy and wanted everything to feel as relaxed and unobtrusive as possible, so the approach was very much documentary-led. No staging, no interruption, just honest storytelling.
Most of the time was spent capturing:
- guests arriving and greeting each other
- natural interactions inside the pub
- small emotional moments during dinner
- and the overall atmosphere of the room as the evening unfolded
A quiet walk through Stow-on-the-Wold
Before heading into dinner, we also took a few moments to walk through Stow-on-the-Wold together.
These were kept very natural and simple — just the couple moving through the town, chatting, and taking in the surroundings. Nothing forced or overly posed, just small pockets of time to reflect the atmosphere of the day.
Stow has such a timeless feel to it, and it worked perfectly as a backdrop for a few relaxed portraits without taking them away from their guests for too long.
Intimate weddings done differently
Weddings like this are a reminder that you don’t need a full-day production to have something meaningful and beautifully documented.
Sometimes, the most powerful moments happen in smaller spaces — around a dinner table, in a quiet glance between family members, or in the way a room feels when everyone important to you is in it.
That’s what this day was really about.
