A relaxed countryside wedding in Warwickshire with a Scottish twist
Lottie and Sean’s wedding at Primrose Hill Farm was one of those days that seemed to have energy from the very beginning.
With Lottie’s roots here in Warwickshire and Sean’s in Scotland, their wedding brought together family and friends from both sides for a relaxed countryside celebration at Primrose Hill Farm. It was personal, full of character and, by the evening, very lively!
Set amongst the rolling Warwickshire countryside, Primrose Hill Farm was such a beautiful backdrop for their day. The modern barn opens out onto incredible views across the surrounding fields, giving the whole wedding that relaxed, outdoorsy feel while still having a gorgeous contemporary space for the celebrations inside.
A Wedding at Primrose Hill Farm
One of the things I love about photographing weddings at Primrose Hill Farm is how connected everything feels to the landscape around it. There are views across the countryside in almost every direction — and, of course, the cows!
For Lottie and Sean, it meant we didn't need to disappear for ages for photographs. We could step outside for relaxed couple portraits and then have them back with their guests enjoying the wedding within minutes.
That suits the way I photograph weddings perfectly. I want portraits to feel natural and beautiful, but I never want couples to feel as though their wedding has turned into one long photoshoot.
Relaxed, Natural Wedding Photography
There was so much happening throughout Lottie and Sean's day that the best photographs often came from simply letting everything unfold.
The hugs, reactions, people catching up, glasses being raised and all the slightly chaotic moments in between are such a huge part of the story of a wedding. My approach is to document those naturally while giving a little direction when it's actually needed.
For a wedding with this much energy, that meant I could concentrate on the people and atmosphere rather than constantly pulling Lottie and Sean away from their guests.
A Scottish Ceilidh to Finish the Day
And then came the evening...
With Sean being Scottish, it felt only right to bring a little bit of Scotland to Warwickshire with a ceilidh.
Once everyone was on the dance floor, the energy went up another level. Ceilidhs are brilliant to photograph because there's really no standing on the sidelines — everyone gets involved, and within minutes you've got people spinning around the room, laughing, losing track of the steps and generally throwing themselves into it.
It was the perfect ending to a day that had felt completely like Lottie and Sean from beginning to end.
